ABOUT US

Origins of Taste

Taste began in 2018 on Isla Mujeres, inspired by a visitor who fell in love with the island’s local flavor during a day trip from Cancun. The original Taste website, Taste of Isla, started as a simple way to promote street vendors and small businesses. Over time, it grew into a reliable guide highlighting the island’s taco stands and hidden culinary gems. The founder focused on offering free marketing to businesses with limited exposure, gradually creating a comprehensive resource for both locals and tourists.

As the project gained momentum, it expanded beyond food to include tours, accommodations, services, beach clubs, and more. Driven by a small, passionate team, Taste extended its reach beyond Isla Mujeres, evolving from a food-focused platform into a broader guide to authentic experiences across the Yucatan Peninsula.

Today, Taste covers Isla Mujeres, El Cuyo, Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Valladolid, Merida, Isla Holbox, and Bacalar, with plans to add more destinations in the future.

Why Are We Doing This?

The Taste team is dedicated to creating memorable travel and food experiences by connecting visitors with standout local eateries, unique tours, and private chef services. We focus on supporting small, independent businesses across the Yucatan Peninsula, helping bring their ideas to life. Many of these businesses lack the resources to build a strong online presence, and that’s where we come in.

Since our start, Taste has grown into a diverse platform featuring not only restaurants and street food but also bars, boutiques, beach clubs, distinctive tours, and local activities. On the original Taste of Isla site, we launched Isla Mujeres’ first online shop showcasing handcrafted goods and artwork from local artisans, sharing the island’s culture with a wider audience.

Our mission is to nurture local creativity, foster meaningful connections, and provide a platform where businesses can thrive, while giving travelers reliable tools to explore each destination with confidence.

Where Are We Going?

As Taste grows, our core mission remains unchanged: to connect travelers with local businesses and share practical, trustworthy advice that enhances every trip. What started as a simple website has developed into a reliable guide covering Isla Mujeres, El Cuyo, Cancun, Valladolid, Puerto Morelos, Merida, Bacalar, Isla Holbox, and now Mahahual.

By partnering closely with small businesses, we provide genuine recommendations on where to eat, what to see, and how to get the most out of each destination. This is only the beginning since Taste continues to expand by adding more locations across the Yucatan Peninsula. Whether it’s your first visit or a return trip, our aim is to make your experience smoother, richer, and filled with memorable moments.
